If you choose to wear a face mask-the one you buy-you need to know how to use it safely. This includes how to wear it, what to do when wearing it, how to take it off, and how to handle it safely after use to avoid the risk of infection.
Some key points
Do not share face masks with others.
Children or people who cannot remove the face mask without help should not wear a mask.
People who have difficulty breathing should not wear a face mask.
How to wear a face mask safely
Make sure the face mask is clean, dry, and not damaged.
Before wearing a face mask, clean your hands with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol). Make sure your hands are dry.
Put the face mask on the nose and mouth and fasten it with a tie or loop. Make sure the face mask fits around your face and nose. Make sure that the face mask completely covers your nose, mouth, and chin. Your face mask should be comfortable, there is no gap between the mask and your face, and allow you to breathe easily.
Wash your hands again.
While wearing a face mask
Do not touch the front of the face mask. If so, clean your hands and dry them thoroughly.
Avoid contact with your face, because contact with your eyes or if you don't wear a face mask properly can still cause infection.
Do not move the face mask during use. This includes pulling your chin up or down. If you need to remove the face mask (for example, to eat)-remove it safely, dispose of it properly (or wash it with a homemade mask or cloth mask) and clean your hands.
If the mask gets damp, damaged, or soiled, replace it.
